Founded in 2019 in Sydney, IT’S A FAD began as a passion project creating unique T-shirts, hoodies, and clothing using the intricate art of ice dyeing. This labor-intensive technique combines ice and dye powders to produce delicate watercolor-like effects, showcasing Sara Leonardi’s expertise in color theory and fabric folding methods.

After debuting at the iconic Bondi Markets, Sara expanded her collection to include resort wear and streetwear, incorporating ethically sourced Italian leather and hand-dyed fabric linings.

Sara’s background in interior design and her love for traditional crafts from India, Africa, South America, and beyond, have influenced her eclectic yet pragmatic approach to fashion.

Raised between Italy, Venezuela, and the U.S., with extensive travel through India, Sara’s multicultural experiences infuse every piece with global inspiration.

Since relocating to Noosa’s iconic Hastings Street in 2023, IT’S A FAD has become a destination for bold, vibrant designs that empower women worldwide.

Each garment is crafted ethically in India by a women-led team, reflecting Sara’s commitment to supporting women artisans and fostering meaningful connections.
